IPLOCA to Expand Scholarship Offerings
Steven Sumner, Vice President Global Equipment Lincoln Electric and Board Member of the International Pipeline and Offshore Contractors Association (IPLOCA), announced an expanded scholarship program for the association at the 53rd Annual Meeting of IPLOCA in Bangkok this week.
In 2016, 2017 and 2018, the International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association awarded 20 scholarships annually, valuing USD 4,500 each, to help the next generation pursue their chosen field of study. Additionally, three companies – Gulf Interstate Engineering, Rosen, and Vacuworx—provided additional scholarships.
Scholarships are offered each year for full-time tertiary education at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. The association provides students who are children or grandchildren of employees of IPLOCA member or associate member companies with scholarships to study at a college, university, vocational-technical or trade school for the entire upcoming academic year.
“The program is designed to help young people with entry into our industry,” said Sumner. “It’s a program that we plan to expand and use to help students around the globe who are interested in a career in the pipeline industry.”
