Sawgrass Completes First LNG Ship Bunkering at Port Everglades

Sawgrass LNG & Power has completed the first shore-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at Port Everglades, marking a step forward for LNG marine fueling in South Florida.

(P&GJ) — Sawgrass LNG & Power has completed the first shore-to-ship LNG bunkering operation at Port Everglades, supplying fuel to a vessel operated by the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

The operation took place March 26 at the South Florida port and involved coordination with multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities.

Port Everglades officials said the project marks a step toward expanding LNG as a marine fuel option for cruise and cargo vessels operating in the region.

Neil Kutchera, assistant director of energy and innovation at Port Everglades, called the operation a milestone for the port and its partners, noting the availability of LNG for both landside and marine fueling.

Sawgrass said the project demonstrates growing demand for LNG bunkering services and highlights the role of coordinated logistics and safety oversight in supporting marine fuel operations.
