TerraVolt Taps Northwest Pipeline for Idaho AI Data Center Project

TerraVolt Infrastructure signed a firm natural gas supply agreement to support a planned 200-MW to 240-MW AI data center campus in southeast Idaho connected to the Northwest Pipeline system.

(P&GJ) — TerraVolt Infrastructure, a subsidiary of CalEthos Inc., has signed a firm natural gas supply agreement to support a planned AI-focused data center campus in southeast Idaho.

Under the agreement, a natural gas marketing company will supply TerraVolt with 55,000 MMBtu/d of natural gas for a proposed behind-the-meter power generation facility tied to the development. The project is planned near the Northwest Natural Gas Pipeline system.

The company said the initial phase of the campus is expected to support between 200 MW and 240 MW of power generation for hyperscale and high-performance computing operations.

TerraVolt said the project is designed to provide on-site power generation without drawing electricity from the local grid. The company’s infrastructure model combines natural gas-fired generation with pre-permitted data center sites and utility connections aimed at accelerating deployment timelines for AI and cloud computing customers.

Joel Stone, chairman and CEO of CalEthos, said the agreement is intended to provide stable fuel supply for the project’s initial development phase while supporting long-term reliability for future data center operations.

The fuel supply agreement also includes fuel management services intended to help balance power demand fluctuations as additional facilities are brought online.

The announcement comes as energy developers increasingly pursue dedicated natural gas infrastructure and behind-the-meter generation projects to meet rising electricity demand from AI data centers and large-scale computing facilities.
