ONEOK Contained Fire at Mont Belvieu Fractionator, No Injuries Reported

ONEOK contained a fire at its MB-4 fractionator in Mont Belvieu, Texas. The blaze was quickly extinguished with no injuries reported, and other plant operations are expected to resume following safety reviews.

(P&GJ) — ONEOK, Inc. reported that a fire occurred on Oct. 6 in the heating system of its MB-4 fractionator at the company’s Mont Belvieu, Texas, complex. The incident was quickly contained and caused no injuries, the company said.

According to ONEOK, the fire was limited to the MB-4 unit and was extinguished shortly after it began. As a precaution, fractionation operations at the site were temporarily shut down while safety reviews were conducted.

The company said operations at other units in the Mont Belvieu complex are expected to resume following safety checks, while MB-4 will return to service once repairs are completed.

“Employee and community safety remains the company’s top priority,” ONEOK said, thanking employees and first responders for their quick response. The company added that it does not anticipate a material impact on its financial condition, results, or cash flow.

ONEOK operates one of the largest natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionation and transportation networks in the U.S., with approximately 60,000 miles of pipelines spanning natural gas, NGLs, refined products, and crude oil.
