Venture Global and Japan’s Mitsui signed a 20-year LNG supply deal for 1 MMtpy starting in 2029, expanding U.S. LNG exports to Asia and marking the company’s third long-term agreement with Japanese partners this year.
ARLINGTON, Va. (P&GJ) — Venture Global LNG and Japan’s Mitsui & Co. have signed a new 20-year sales and purchase agreement for liquefied natural gas, extending the U.S. exporter’s reach in Asia.
Under the agreement, Mitsui will purchase 1 million tons per year (MMtpy) of LNG from Venture Global beginning in 2029. The deal marks Venture Global’s third long-term contract with a Japanese buyer and brings the company’s total signed volumes in 2025 to 6.75 MMtpy.
“Venture Global is honored to announce our new partnership with Mitsui, a distinguished leader in the LNG industry, to further increase the flow of U.S. LNG to Japan and the global market,” said Mike Sabel, CEO of Venture Global. “This collaboration between our two companies will strengthen energy security, enhance the balance of trade, and deepen the long-standing ties between our nations.”
Venture Global has rapidly expanded its portfolio of long-term LNG contracts in 2025, securing multiple agreements with Asian buyers as U.S. liquefied gas demand continues to grow worldwide.
