PETRONAS Signs LNG Supply Deal with Shizuoka Gas
PETRONAS will supply LNG to Japan's Shizuoka Gas under a new seven-year agreement beginning in 2032, extending a three-decade commercial partnership.
(P&GJ) — PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, has signed a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Japan's Shizuoka Gas Co. that will supply approximately 0.84 MMtpy of LNG over a seven-year period beginning in 2032.
The agreement extends a commercial relationship between the companies that dates back three decades and is intended to provide Shizuoka Gas with greater supply flexibility and long-term energy security through PETRONAS' global LNG portfolio.
PETRONAS Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Gas and Maritime Business Datuk Adif Zulkifli said the agreement reflects the companies' longstanding relationship while supporting evolving customer needs.
"This agreement marks more than a commercial milestone. It reflects 30 years of mutual trust, shared growth and a partnership that has continued to evolve alongside the changing energy landscape," Zulkifli said.
He added that PETRONAS will continue leveraging its diversified LNG portfolio to deliver reliable and flexible supply as global market conditions evolve.
The signing ceremony also marked the 30th anniversary of PETRONAS' first LNG cargo delivered to Shizuoka Gas.
Shizuoka Gas and PETRONAS said they also plan to expand their relationship beyond LNG supply by exploring opportunities to support decarbonization across the LNG value chain.
As one of the world's largest LNG suppliers, PETRONAS said it remains focused on supporting global energy security through its integrated LNG portfolio while advancing lower-carbon energy initiatives.
