Commonwealth LNG Awards Main Automation Contract for Louisiana Export Terminal

Commonwealth LNG has awarded Yokogawa the main automation contract for its proposed 9.5-MMtpy export terminal in Cameron, Louisiana, advancing the project's execution phase with integrated control and safety systems.

(P&GJ) — Commonwealth LNG has selected Yokogawa Corporation of America as the project's main automation contractor (MAC), awarding the company responsibility for delivering integrated control, safety and automation systems for the proposed 9.5-MMtpy LNG export terminal near Cameron, Louisiana.

The contract was awarded by Technip Energies, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for Commonwealth LNG, a Caturus company.

Under the agreement, Yokogawa will provide engineering and design services, an integrated control and safety system (ICSS), system integration and project execution support. The company will also integrate multiple third-party subsystems and advanced automation applications to support terminal operations.

The $13 billion Commonwealth LNG project includes six liquefaction trains, LNG storage tanks and export facilities. The terminal is expected to begin commercial operations in 2030 following construction and commissioning.

Yokogawa President and Chief Executive Officer Kevin McMillen said the company will support the project through execution and long-term operations.

"We are honored to be selected as the main automation contractor for this LNG project," McMillen said.

"Yokogawa brings deep expertise in delivering advanced automation solutions for large-scale, complex energy facilities."

The automation award represents another execution milestone for the Louisiana export terminal, which has secured long-term LNG offtake agreements and is advancing into the project delivery phase. System deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.
