Marubeni Acquires EagleRidge, Expands North American Gas Assets

Marubeni is expanding its North American natural gas portfolio through the acquisition of EagleRidge Energy, the third-largest operator in the Barnett Shale.

(P&GJ) — Marubeni Corp. has acquired EagleRidge Energy, adding one of the largest natural gas producers in the Barnett Shale to its North American energy portfolio.

Dallas-based EagleRidge operates more than 3,500 wells across approximately 450,000 gross acres in North Texas and produces about 300 million cubic feet equivalent per day. The company said the acquisition follows several transactions completed since September 2024 that expanded its position to become the third-largest operator in the Barnett Shale.

The acquisition supports Marubeni's strategy to expand its natural gas assets and broader energy business in North America.

EagleRidge said its existing management and operating team will remain in place following the transaction.

As part of the leadership transition, Tom Ashton and Sam Miller have been appointed co-presidents, Hiroki Shima will serve as chairman, and Michael Ronca will become vice chairman.

The company said retaining its leadership team is intended to support continued operational execution and future growth under Marubeni's ownership.
