Argent LNG Awards Engineering Contract for 25-MMtpy Louisiana Export Terminal
Argent LNG has awarded GIS Engineering a contract supporting FERC permitting for its proposed 25-MMtpy LNG export terminal at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, advancing engineering and environmental work for the project.
(P&GJ) — Argent LNG has awarded GIS Engineering LLC a marine, environmental and site engineering services contract to support federal permitting for the company's proposed 25-MMtpy LNG export terminal at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, advancing the project through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) pre-filing process.
The contract covers engineering and environmental work required for Argent LNG's ongoing FERC pre-filing application, including storm surge analysis, maritime navigation and ship simulation studies, marine facility design, floodwall engineering, site preparation, and wetland delineation and mitigation.
The engineering deliverables will support FERC's environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and provide the technical foundation for the terminal's marine facilities, site preparation and environmental mitigation plans.
Argent LNG Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Bass said the award advances the company's permitting roadmap while drawing on local engineering expertise.
"Every deliverable under this contract moves us closer to a complete FERC filing," Bass said.
Bass added that GIS Engineering's experience with South Louisiana's coastal environment made the company well suited for the work.
"GIS Engineering exemplifies exactly the kind of homegrown technical excellence that our Louisiana First strategy is designed to recognize and reward," he said.
GIS Engineering President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Pregeant II said the company's familiarity with the region's waterways and coastal conditions will support development of the proposed export terminal.
"Port Fourchon is our backyard. We know this coastline, we know these waterways, and we know what it takes to build here responsibly," Pregeant said.
Argent LNG said the engineering contract follows submission of 11 resource reports to FERC covering topics including water resources, wildlife, cultural resources, geology, soils, land use, air quality and project alternatives.
The company said it continues advancing permitting, export authorization, commercial development and financing activities as it works toward a final investment decision and the start of construction.
