Samsung Heavy Picks TMC for Four LNG Carrier Builds

Samsung Heavy Industries selected TMC Compressors to supply compressed air systems for four new LNG carriers being built for TMS Cardiff Gas.

(P&GJ) — Samsung Heavy Industries has selected TMC Compressors to supply compressed air systems for four new LNG carriers being built for TMS Cardiff Gas.

The contract covers delivery of instrument and service air compressor systems for the vessels, which are each expected to have LNG storage capacity of 174,000 cubic meters.

TMC said the systems are designed for marine and offshore applications and are built for continuous operation in high-temperature environments.

The four LNG carriers are expected to be delivered in late 2028, according to industry reports.

TMC Director of Sales and Business Development Hans-Petter Tanum said the company has previously supplied similar systems to both Samsung Heavy Industries and TMS Cardiff Gas.

TMS Cardiff Gas specializes in LNG and LPG carrier operations and has continued expanding its LNG shipping portfolio amid growing global LNG trade demand.

Samsung Heavy Industries is one of the world’s largest LNG carrier builders, while Norway-based TMC supplies compressed air systems for marine and offshore energy applications.
