Woodside Names Liz Westcott CEO to Lead LNG, Australia Operations

Woodside has appointed Liz Westcott as CEO, elevating the acting chief to lead the company’s global portfolio, including key LNG and Australian operations.

(P&GJ) — Woodside Energy has appointed Liz Westcott as its chief executive officer, formalizing her leadership role after serving as acting CEO since late 2025.

The company confirmed Westcott will take over as CEO and managing director following the departure of former chief Meg O’Neill in December.

Westcott joined Woodside in 2023 and most recently led its Australian operations, overseeing major projects including the Scarborough Energy Project and the transition of operatorship in the Bass Strait. She previously served as chief operating officer at EnergyAustralia and spent 25 years at ExxonMobil in roles across Australia and Europe.

Woodside Chair Richard Goyder said Westcott’s appointment followed a competitive selection process.

“I am delighted with the appointment of Liz as Woodside’s next CEO and Managing Director.

“Liz’s proven track record of outstanding strategic leadership and disciplined delivery distinguished her as the Board’s top candidate for this role.

“Liz’s extensive industry experience and strategic vision will be invaluable in leading Woodside at this significant moment in its history, as we position the company to meet growing global energy demand and deliver long-term shareholder value.”

Westcott said she plans to focus on operational performance and advancing the company’s project portfolio.

“Woodside is a great company with highly talented people and a proud track record of delivery for our customers and stakeholders.

“My focus as CEO is on sustainable value creation for Woodside shareholders, operational excellence and disciplined execution of our growth projects.

“I look forward to working closely with the Board and Woodside’s strong leadership team to continue building a leading global energy company that delivers long-term value for shareholders, underpinned by a consistent focus on sustainability and high performance.”

Her appointment comes as Woodside continues to advance key LNG developments and expand its global energy portfolio.
