Teledyne GMI, Southern Cross Partner on Gas Detection for U.S. Utilities

Teledyne GMI has partnered with Southern Cross to distribute gas detection and leak detection technologies to utilities across the southeastern United States, expanding regional support and service capabilities.

(P&GJ) — Teledyne Gas Measurement Instruments Ltd. (Teledyne GMI) has formed a strategic partnership with Southern Cross to distribute gas and leak detection technologies to gas utilities across the southeastern United States.

Under the agreement, Southern Cross will distribute Teledyne GMI’s portfolio of portable gas detection instruments and provide regional service support. The partnership will complement Teledyne GMI’s existing U.S. service center located in Cypress, Texas.

Company officials said the expanded distribution network is intended to improve access to detection technologies and provide additional technical support for utilities operating gas infrastructure.

“We are pleased to offer our advanced detection solutions through Southern Cross. This partnership strengthens our ability to support U.S. gas utilities with local expertise, reliable service, and proven technologies.” said Shannon Sanders, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Americas, Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection.

Teledyne GMI and Southern Cross together bring more than 200 years of combined experience serving the gas utility sector. The companies said the partnership will support utilities as the industry adapts to evolving safety, operational and environmental requirements.

Teledyne GMI manufactures a range of portable detection instruments, including the GS700, GS500, GT Series and PS200, designed to monitor gas leaks, improve safety and support operational efficiency.

The devices are integrated with the GDCloud platform, which enables utilities to collect and analyze gas detection data through centralized digital access. The platform supports fleet management, compliance reporting and maintenance planning.

"Through Southern Cross, Sparus has been protecting gas infrastructure since 1946. Partnering with Teledyne GMI as an authorized distributor brings together a combined 200 years of utility experience, so crews can work more safely and customers get faster access to the safety technology they rely on." said Jody Boyles, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Sparus.

"This partnership creates access and support at a larger scale. With Sparus' national field footprint, we’ll put Teledyne GMI portable gas detectors in technicians’ hands quickly with the training, service and coverage gas utilities expect. Anchored in our shared values of safety, innovation and integrity, we’re helping customers maintain their critical infrastructure and support efforts to reduce emissions.” said Jeff Schechtman, Chief Operating Officer, Sparus.
