Phillips 66, Kinder Morgan Extend Open Season for Western Gateway Pipeline

Phillips 66 and Kinder Morgan have extended the open season for the proposed Western Gateway refined products pipeline, citing continued shipper interest and added California delivery options.

(P&GJ) — Phillips 66 and Kinder Morgan have extended the open season for the proposed Western Gateway Pipeline, giving shippers additional time to secure capacity on the refined products system.

The open season will now close April 15 at noon CT, following continued interest from potential customers evaluating remaining capacity on the project.

The Western Gateway Pipeline is designed to transport refined products, with expanded receipt points and delivery options into the Los Angeles market via Kinder Morgan’s SFPP system, including the Watson-to-Colton line.

The companies said the extension allows shippers more time to review updated commercial terms, including transportation rates, and finalize internal approvals.

An initial open season held in December drew significant interest and included shipper commitments, according to the companies.

The project remains in the commercial development stage, with final capacity allocations dependent on the outcome of the extended open season.
