K Line Delivers Second LNG Carrier for PETRONAS
K Line has delivered the Puteri Kedah, the second of two new LNG carriers built for PETRONAS LNG, strengthening the Malaysian company’s LNG shipping fleet.
(P&GJ) — Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd., known as K Line, has delivered the Puteri Kedah, the second of two newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for PETRONAS LNG Ltd.
The vessel was delivered June 30 at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Co. Ltd. in China. Its sister vessel, Puteri Johor, was delivered May 29 at the same shipyard.
Both LNG carriers are owned by joint venture companies of K Line and are expected to support PETRONAS LNG’s fleet operations and long-term LNG deliveries to customers.
The two vessels were named during an April 30 ceremony at the shipyard attended by representatives from PETRONAS LNG, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, Bank of Communications Financial Leasing, China Merchants Energy Shipping, China Merchants Financial Leasing and K Line.
K Line said LNG remains a priority investment area under its medium-term management plan as the company seeks to expand long-term contracts and respond to rising energy demand.
