STATS Group Wins California License to Expand Pipeline Isolation Work
STATS Group has secured a California pipeline contractor license, allowing the company to expand hot tapping, line stopping and pipeline isolation services across the West Coast.
(P&GJ) — STATS Group has received approval to operate in California after securing a state Pipeline Contractor’s License, clearing the way for the company to expand its pipeline isolation, hot tapping and line stopping services in the U.S. West Coast market.
The license authorizes STATS to bid on and execute pipeline projects across California while meeting state and local regulatory requirements. The company said the approval follows growing interest from asset owners and operators seeking support for complex isolation and maintenance work.
STATS, which has U.S. operations based in Houston, specializes in pressurized pipeline isolation, hot tapping and line stopping services used for maintenance and repair of onshore, topsides and subsea pipeline infrastructure. Its services are often applied in situations involving challenging isolations, including pipelines with ovality, weld seams or internal corrosion.
“Our technology is highly regarded across the global energy sector for providing high integrity isolation, increased safety and environmental improvements, and allows operators to carry out repair and maintenance in a safe and sustainable way,” said Jamie Frederick, president and general manager for STATS Group in the U.S.
“This licence will provide opportunities to work on larger projects, including public works and utility infrastructure, and enhances our credibility by demonstrating verified experience and adherence to safety and building codes,” Frederick said.
He added that the approval supports STATS’ broader U.S. growth strategy. “It supports our business growth strategy as we expand our services across the US and will potentially serve as a stepping stone to other classifications. We have previously completed trials and demonstrations in California and are now looking forward to providing our full range of services into the West Coast market.”
STATS plans to showcase its BISEP line stop and Tecno Plug inline isolation technologies at the Pipeline Pigging & Integrity Management Exhibition and Conference in Houston from Jan. 19–22.
