Enbridge Proposes Texas Eastern Line 31 Expansion to Add Mississippi Gas Capacity

Texas Eastern has proposed the Line 31 Expansion Project in Mississippi, adding 125,000 Dth/d of natural gas capacity through new looping, a delivery lateral, and a compressor station, with service targeted for 2028.

(P&GJ) — Texas Eastern Transmission, LP has proposed an expansion of its interstate natural gas pipeline system in Mississippi aimed at supporting rising regional demand for reliable, lower-emissions energy supply.

The Texas Eastern Line 31 Expansion Project would add up to 125,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of transportation capacity through a combination of new pipeline looping, a delivery lateral, and a new compressor station in Madison County, Mississippi.

The proposed scope includes the installation of approximately 10.2 miles of 36-inch-diameter pipeline looping an existing Texas Eastern line, along with a 1.7-mile, 16-inch delivery lateral designed to connect with Entergy’s planned Ridgeland Advanced Power Station. Texas Eastern also plans to construct a new Ridgeland Compressor Station in Madison County as part of the project.

According to the company, the expansion would strengthen its existing system and provide additional natural gas capacity to serve both current and future downstream customers in the region.

The project is wholly owned by Enbridge and remains in the proposed stage. Construction cannot begin until all required regulatory approvals are secured, including authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other federal and state agencies.

If approved, construction is expected to begin in August 2027, with a targeted in-service date of September 2028. Texas Eastern said the project is designed to minimize impacts to landowners, nearby communities, and the environment during construction.
