Tourmaline Earns MiQ Grade ‘A’ for Integrated Gas System

Canada’s largest natural gas producer has certified 1.6 billion cubic feet per day of production and processing capacity under MiQ’s methane standard, earning a Grade ‘A’ rating as global buyers increasingly demand verified emissions data.

(P&GJ) — Tourmaline Oil Corp., Canada’s largest natural gas producer, has become the first company to certify an integrated natural gas production and processing system under MiQ’s methane emissions standard.

“Tourmaline is proud that our operations have earned MiQ's highest rating for methane management, showcasing Tourmaline's leadership in environmental performance improvement," Michael Rose, President, CEO and Chairman of Tourmaline, said. "We know that countries around the world want more Canadian natural gas, and this certification reinforces Tourmaline and Canada as a trusted and reliable global energy supplier.”

The certification covers approximately 1.6 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas production and includes onshore production, gathering and boosting, and gas processing facilities. Tourmaline earned a Grade ‘A’ rating for methane performance and is the first Canadian producer to be certified under the MiQ framework.

According to MiQ, the certification represents the first time an integrated gas production and processing system has been independently verified and publicly listed in the MiQ Registry.

The process involved independently verified methane emissions reporting and the use of multiple methane monitoring technologies across large-scale operations.

Georges Tijbosch, CEO of MiQ, said:
“Tourmaline's achievement represents a significant milestone for methane performance in the Canadian natural gas sector. By certifying an integrated natural gas production system, Tourmaline is demonstrating the level of transparency and accountability that global gas markets are increasingly demanding, underlying the growing importance of independently verified methane performance data for international buyers.”

MiQ said the certification reflects growing demand from buyers, regulators and investors for independently verified methane performance data as part of gas procurement decisions.
