BLM Approves Southwest Gas Pipeline Right-of-Way in Nevada

The Bureau of Land Management has approved a right-of-way for Southwest Gas to operate and replace a natural gas pipeline near Yerington, Nevada, resolving historical unauthorized use.

(P&GJ) — The Bureau of Land Management has approved a right-of-way for Southwest Gas to operate and replace a natural gas pipeline in Weed Heights near Yerington, Nevada.

The approval, issued by the BLM’s Sierra Front Field Office, authorizes an existing vintage steel natural gas pipeline along Burch Drive and addresses historical unauthorized use. It also allows Southwest Gas to construct, operate and maintain a new replacement pipeline along the same general route in Lyon County.

According to the agency, the approved right-of-way covers both the existing pipeline and future replacement work intended to maintain natural gas service in the area. Additional project details, including maps of the proposed project areas, have been made available through the BLM’s ePlanning portal.

The BLM manages approximately 245 million acres of public land, primarily across 12 western states and Alaska, and administers about 700 million acres of subsurface mineral estate nationwide.
