STATS Acquires P2D to Expand Global Pipeline Integrity Services
STATS Group has acquired pipeline cleaning and data specialist P2D, expanding its global pipeline integrity and maintenance services platform.
(P&GJ) — STATS Group has acquired Aberdeen-based pipeline intelligence and cleaning specialist Pipelines 2 Data (P2D), expanding its capabilities in pipeline inspection, diagnostics and maintenance services.
The deal adds P2D’s data-driven cleaning and survey technologies to STATS’ existing portfolio of pipeline isolation, hot tapping and line stopping services, allowing the combined company to offer a more integrated approach to pipeline integrity management.
STATS, which employs more than 500 staff across operations in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, said the acquisition supports its strategy to build a global pipeline services platform covering inspection, maintenance and repair.
P2D specializes in pipeline cleaning and data analytics tools that provide operators with insight into pipeline condition and performance ahead of maintenance or intervention work. Its technology is designed to bridge the gap between conventional cleaning tools and more advanced inspection systems.
The companies have worked together for more than a decade on projects in the UK and Middle East, which STATS said demonstrated operational alignment and complementary capabilities.
STATS CEO Stephen Rawlinson said the acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to deliver integrated pipeline integrity services.
“By combining P2D’s inspection and cleaning expertise with STATS’ pipeline isolation and maintenance technologies, we will create a unique service offering in the pipeline services market — enabling operators to manage pipeline integrity more efficiently through a single, integrated provider,” Rawlinson said.
P2D’s leadership team, including CEO Steve Mayo, will remain with the business, which will continue operating from Aberdeen with additional hubs in Canada and the United States.
Mayo said the acquisition provides an opportunity to scale the company’s technology and services globally.
“I am proud of P2D and excited about the opportunity and future under the stewardship of STATS,” Mayo said. “With P2D, I set out to create a unique offering, focused on solving challenges in the pipeline integrity market through ‘smart’ actionable insight derived from the data collected by our robust technology. I look forward to helping further expand the scale and scope of P2D’s offerings globally with the additional resources that companies like STATS and Mitsui can bring.”
