Polar LNG Names Joel Riddle CEO, Advances Alaska LNG Project
Polar LNG has launched with plans to advance a nearshore LNG project on Alaska’s North Slope, targeting faster access to Asian markets.
(P&GJ) — Polar LNG has launched and appointed Joel Riddle as president and CEO as the company advances a proposed nearshore LNG project at Prudhoe Bay on Alaska’s North Slope.
The project is designed to move natural gas from Alaska’s North Slope to market using a nearshore LNG development model, with a focus on improving access to export markets in Asia. Its location offers a shorter shipping route compared with U.S. Gulf Coast LNG facilities, positioning the project to serve Pacific demand centers.
Polar LNG said the development would complement broader gas infrastructure efforts in Alaska, including existing pipeline proposals, while requiring upgrades to Arctic logistics and marine capabilities to support year-round operations.
"Alaska's North Slope holds one of the most significant undeveloped natural gas resources in the world," said Joel Riddle, President & CEO of Polar LNG. "Polar LNG is uniquely positioned to bring this resource online—delivering reliable energy for Alaska and a strategic supply for the United States that strengthens energy security, supports American leadership, creates new jobs, and provides trusted energy to our allies."
"Alaska's energy future is not about choosing one project over another," Riddle said. "Both initiatives share the same goals: providing energy security for Americans and creating economic opportunity for Alaska. We believe in an abundance mindset when it comes to American energy development."
