MOL Secures Long-Term LNG Carrier Charter with INPEX
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has signed its first long-term LNG carrier charter agreement with INPEX, supporting stable LNG transport and expanding its global fleet.
(P&GJ) — Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed a long-term charter agreement for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with INPEX, marking the first such contract between the two companies and supporting long-term LNG transport capacity.
The vessel, named Harmonic Breeze, was recently completed at a South Korean shipyard and will be deployed to transport LNG under the agreement. The charter is part of MOL’s broader strategy to expand its LNG carrier fleet and secure stable, long-term revenue streams tied to global gas demand.
Once delivered, the vessel will support INPEX’s LNG supply chain, contributing to steady delivery of cargoes to end markets.
The LNG carrier has a capacity of about 174,000 cubic meters and is equipped with systems designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, including air lubrication and shaft generator technology.
MOL said the agreement reflects continued demand for LNG shipping capacity and aligns with its efforts to grow its presence in lower-emission energy transport.
The company added that expanding its LNG fleet and securing long-term charters remain key priorities as it looks to strengthen its position in global gas logistics.
