Lantern LNG Selects Honeywell for 12 MMtpy Matagorda Bay LNG Export Project in Texas
Lantern LNG has selected Honeywell to provide end-to-end technology and automation for its planned 12 MMtpy LNG export facility in Matagorda Bay, Texas.
(P&GJ) — Lantern LNG has selected Honeywell to provide process technology and automation systems for its planned LNG export facility in Matagorda Bay, Texas, according to a company press release on April 29.
The project, located offshore along the Texas Gulf Coast, is designed to produce approximately 12 million tonnes per year (MMtpy) of LNG across three liquefaction trains, each with a capacity of about 4 MMtpy.
Under the agreement, Honeywell will supply an integrated suite of LNG technologies, including natural gas pre-treatment, liquefaction systems and coil-wound heat exchangers, along with automation and digital platforms to support plant operations.
Lantern LNG said selecting a single provider for both process technology and automation is intended to streamline execution and reduce project risk as development advances.
Chief Executive David Chung said the approach is expected to improve project certainty and support long-term operational performance.
Honeywell said its integrated technology offering is designed to optimize plant performance while reducing complexity and capital costs across the LNG value chain.
Lantern LNG expects a final investment decision for the first train in 2029, with initial operations targeted for late 2031.
