Chiyoda, NYK Partner on Global CO₂ Transport, CCS Projects
Chiyoda, NYK and KNCC sign agreement to advance global CCS projects, with a focus on CO₂ transport and value chain development.
(P&GJ) — Chiyoda Corporation, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) and Knutsen NYK Carbon Carriers AS (KNCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly pursue carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, with a focus on CO₂ transport and value chain development.
The companies said the agreement will center on evaluating and advancing CCS opportunities in Japan and international markets, including transportation solutions for captured CO₂. The collaboration is expected to cover multiple project phases, ranging from early-stage studies through engineering and construction, as companies look to scale CO₂ handling and storage infrastructure.
The partnership builds on prior joint work assessing liquefied CO₂ transport options, including elevated-, medium- and low-pressure systems, as well as cost and scheduling considerations across the CCS value chain. The companies aim to apply those findings to support future CCS project development and commercialization.
