ABB Launches Control Room Platform to Streamline Industrial Operations
ABB has launched a new control room integration platform designed to streamline operations, reduce footprint and improve efficiency across industrial and energy sectors.
(P&GJ) — ABB has introduced a new control room integration platform aimed at simplifying operations across industrial and energy sectors, including oil and gas.
The system, known as Unification X, is designed to consolidate multiple control inputs into a single interface, allowing operators to manage systems using fewer monitors, keyboards and workstations.
ABB said the platform can reduce control room footprint by up to 35% compared to traditional setups, based on internal testing, while improving coordination and response times.
The system is intended for use across a range of industries, including energy, utilities and process operations, where operators must manage complex and distributed systems.
Sebastian Karlsson, general manager of control room solutions at ABB’s energy industries division, said the platform is designed to simplify increasingly complex control environments.
“Unification X represents a step forward in control room integration,” Karlsson said. “It is designed to improve efficiency while supporting secure and flexible operations.”
The platform also enables real-time data sharing and rapid switching between systems, which ABB said can support operations in high-demand environments such as emergency response and shift transitions.
ABB said the system will be deployed across its control room solutions portfolio, including its extended operator workplace platform.
