New Mexico Gas Company Extends Pipeline to San Juan County Industrial Park

New Mexico Gas Company has started building a 13-mile pipeline extension to deliver natural gas to the San Juan County Industrial Park near La Plata, N.M., with work continuing through December.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (P&GJ) — Construction is under way on a 13-mile pipeline extension that will bring natural gas service to the San Juan County Industrial Park, part of efforts to spur local economic growth.

“Natural gas is reliable and affordable, which are key elements in economic development,” said Ryan Shell, president of New Mexico Gas Company (NMGC). “Also, homes and businesses along the new pipeline will have the option to become natural gas customers once service has been extended to the industrial park”.

The project runs near La Plata, north of Farmington, with crews currently working along the west side of San Juan County Road 1191. Lane closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as construction progresses. Additional work is scheduled along New Mexico 170 and County Roads 1130 and 1300 before the project wraps up in December.

Motorists are advised to use caution, as heavy equipment and trucks will be active in the construction zones.
