East Texas Frac Sand Project will Strengthen In-Basin Supply for Haynesville Operators

Delta Sands announced plans for a 3-million-ton-per-year wet sand processing facility near Buffalo, Texas, to serve operators in the Western Haynesville Shale. The project will strengthen in-basin proppant supply chains and support growing natural gas and infrastructure development across East Texas.

Delta Sands LLC has announced plans to construct a 3-million-ton-per-year wet sand processing facility near Buffalo, Texas, in the heart of the Western Haynesville Shale, as the company aims to meet growing demand for high-quality in-basin proppant driven by accelerating natural gas development across East Texas.

The new facility—currently in the design and permitting phase—will produce 40/200 mesh sand with an 8K crush strength and is slated to begin operations in April 2026. Once complete, Delta Sands will supply regionally sourced frac sand to operators throughout the Western Haynesville, reducing transportation distances, improving reliability, and lowering completion costs for regional producers.

Founded by the team behind Performance Proppants, the first and largest regional sand supplier in the legacy Haynesville, Delta Sands brings significant operational experience and an established logistics model to the western expansion of the play.

“Our mission is to deliver a dependable, high-quality proppant supply directly from the center of the play,” said Bill Bowdon, CEO of Delta Sands. “This project builds on our proven model of efficiency and reliability, supporting both the energy industry and local economies as the Western Haynesville continues to grow.”

Located just off Interstate 45 and U.S. Highway 79, the Buffalo site offers direct logistical access to East Texas and Gulf Coast markets. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with full commissioning in spring 2026.
