DEP Grants Transco Pipeline Permits in Southeastern Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania DEP has approved permits for Transco’s Northeast Supply Enhancement Quarryville Pipeline Loop and compressor station projects in Chester and Lancaster counties.

(P&GJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has approved permit applications submitted by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company (Transco) for its Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) Quarryville Pipeline Loop and compressor station projects in Chester and Lancaster counties.

The approvals, published in the October 11, 2025, Pennsylvania Bulletin, authorize Transco to proceed with construction and operation under several environmental regulations, including Chapter 102 (Erosion and Sediment Control) and Chapter 105 (Water Obstruction and Encroachment).

According to DEP’s notice, the Quarryville Loop and related compressor upgrades are designed to increase natural gas delivery capacity through southeastern Pennsylvania. The projects form part of the company’s larger Northeast Supply Enhancement system, which connects to existing Transco mainlines serving mid-Atlantic and northeastern markets.

DEP stated that its review considered impacts on wetlands, waterways, and surrounding lands. The agency said the permits were granted following compliance with state and federal environmental protection standards.

The approvals mark another phase of regulatory clearance for Transco’s NESE expansion, which has been under environmental review for several years and is intended to enhance pipeline reliability and system capacity across Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
