TC Energy Pipeline Rupture in Wisconsin Sparks Evacuations, Four Injured

TC Energy is repairing a ruptured natural gas pipeline in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, after an excavation crew struck a 10-inch line, injuring four people and prompting evacuations. Repairs and restoration are underway.

A natural gas line owned by TC Energy was damaged in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, after an excavation crew accidentally struck the pipeline on Nov. 14, according to Fox6Now.com. The incident prompted emergency crews to clear nearby homes while responders worked to contain the leak.

The strike happened on Trio Lane in the town of Mitchell, where a crew installing cable hit a 10-inch gas main, as reported by Fox6Now.com. The impact sent a large plume of dust into the air and led to initial reports from residents of a possible explosion, though authorities say it’s still unclear whether one actually occurred.

Four workers were transported to local hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening. TC Energy said all four individuals have since been treated and released.

Dozens of residents were briefly evacuated, and two homes sustained damage during the event. While people were allowed to return home later, the affected stretch of Trio Lane remained blocked off as work continued.

TC Energy said its emergency response phase has concluded and that efforts have now shifted to repairing the damaged line and restoring the area. The company attributed the incident to a third-party contractor and reiterated its reminder for excavators to call 811 before digging—an excavation crew hired by Spectrum was involved in the strike.
