McDermott, Chiyoda Advance EPC Work on Golden Pass LNG Trains 2 and 3

McDermott and Chiyoda signed a new contract amendment with Golden Pass LNG to continue EPC work on Trains 2 and 3, reinforcing progress at one of the largest U.S. LNG export projects.

(P&GJ) — McDermott and joint venture partner Chiyoda International Corporation have signed a contract amendment with Golden Pass LNG Terminal LLC to advance construction of Trains 2 and 3 at the Golden Pass LNG project in Sabine Pass, Texas. The update builds on last year’s amendment covering EPC work for Train 1.

According to the companies, binding terms for the remaining scope of work were finalized in June 2025. Under the amended agreement, McDermott will continue serving as the lead partner for all three 6-million-ton-per-year liquefaction trains.

The companies said the new amendment reaffirms their cooperation with Golden Pass LNG as the project moves deeper into its construction phase. “We remain committed to working closely with Golden Pass LNG and Chiyoda to complete this important energy infrastructure project,” said Michael McKelvy, McDermott President and CEO. “We look forward to continuing to apply our expertise, capabilities and best practices on Trains 2 and 3, and providing employment and development opportunities for the local community.”

At peak activity, Golden Pass LNG expects construction to employ roughly 9,000 workers, with more than 300 permanent positions once operations begin.
