Energy Transfer, Entergy Louisiana Ink 20-Year Gas Deal to Power North Louisiana Growth

The project includes a 12-mile Tiger Pipeline expansion to serve new facilities, including Meta’s data center in Richland Parish.

(P&GJ) — Energy Transfer LP and Entergy Louisiana have signed a 20-year firm transportation agreement to supply natural gas for power generation and new industrial development in North Louisiana, the companies announced.

Under the agreement, Energy Transfer will provide 250,000 MMBtu per day of firm natural gas transportation starting February 2028 through January 2048, with an option for Entergy to expand capacity to meet future energy demand. The deal will support Entergy Louisiana’s planned combined-cycle combustion turbine facilities, designed to deliver more efficient and lower-emission energy to customers.

The gas will also power major regional projects, including Meta’s hyperscale data center in Richland Parish, part of ongoing industrial growth in the state.

To fulfill the agreement, Energy Transfer will expand its Tiger Pipeline system by constructing a 12-mile lateral with capacity of up to 1 Bcf/d, connecting to its extensive U.S. pipeline network that reaches all major producing basins.

“This agreement is another example of how we’re making smart, long-term investments to ensure reliable, affordable power for our customers while supporting major economic development projects across our state,” said Phillip May, president and CEO of Entergy Louisiana. “Working with partners like Energy Transfer allows us to secure the fuel supply needed to power critical facilities like the ones in northern Louisiana and support our state’s growth for decades to come.”

Energy Transfer said the project underscores its ability to deliver scalable gas supply for growing power and data infrastructure needs in the Gulf Coast region.
