Emerson Launches Fisher ARMOR Device for Advanced Gas Grid Monitoring
Emerson has launched its Fisher ARMOR gas monitoring device, a digital system that enhances safety, reliability, and compliance for natural gas utilities through real-time data and cloud-based analytics.
(P&GJ) — Emerson has introduced the Fisher ARMOR monitoring device, a new digital solution designed to enhance safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance across natural gas utility systems.
The Fisher ARMOR platform provides advanced pressure and position monitoring, offering utilities real-time operational data from multiple points in the grid. The system supports local and remote access, helping operators reduce field visits and maintenance costs while improving compliance with increasingly strict monitoring requirements.
Unlike traditional chart recorders or programmable logic controller (PLC)-based systems, the ARMOR unit combines simplicity with multi-variable measurement capabilities, monitoring up to three pressure points in a single device.
“ARMOR addresses these and other issues as the only natural gas monitoring device of its type that can monitor pressure, travel and discrete input,” Emerson said. “Pressure measurement includes up to three values for monitoring at various points in the network to provide system status and equipment operational performance.”
The device features configurable dashboards and a mobile app for simplified data collection and analysis. It also integrates with Emerson’s DeltaV SaaS SCADA platform, enabling cloud-based analytics and predictive insights for proactive maintenance and system optimization.
Built for harsh field conditions, ARMOR is rated IP66 for water and dust resistance, operates between -40°F and +160°F, and includes an intrinsically safe battery with a five-year lifespan.
