Aramco Taps Baker Hughes’ Cordant APM to Boost Reliability Across Saudi Gas Network
Aramco has selected Baker Hughes’ Cordant APM suite for deployment across four Saudi gas compression stations as part of the Master Gas System expansion. The digital tools aim to improve reliability, reduce downtime and support the Kingdom’s push toward lower-emission gas operations.
(P&GJ) — Baker Hughes has secured a multi-year contract to deploy its Cordant™ Asset Performance Management (APM) software across four Booster Gas Compression Stations (BGCS) in Saudi Arabia’s Master Gas System, the company announced. The award, booked in the second quarter of 2025, was issued by China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation (CPECC) on behalf of Aramco.
The rollout marks the first enterprise deployment of Cordant in Saudi Arabia and will apply modules including Asset Health, Asset Strategy, and Asset Defect Elimination. Baker Hughes said the digital suite uses AI and physics-based analytics to support predictive maintenance, reduce downtime and improve reliability across critical gas infrastructure.
Aramco is expanding its Master Gas System as part of its plan to shift power generation from oil to natural gas and advance lower-emission energy goals under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Integrating digital tools, Baker Hughes added, is intended to strengthen operational efficiency and support zero routine flaring objectives.
"This project is a clear demonstration of how we are supporting our customers on their energy transition journeys in one of the world’s most critical energy regions,” said Aravind Yarlagadda, Senior Vice President of Industrial Solutions, Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes. “By combining our deep-domain expertise with advanced AI-powered digital technologies like Cordant™ APM, we aim to help customers like Aramco to enhance asset performance, increase operational resilience, and support progress toward more efficient, lower-carbon operations."
The company noted the new agreement follows an earlier award to supply gas technology equipment for Aramco’s unconventional gas expansion, underscoring the combined importance of rotating equipment and digital solutions in Baker Hughes’ Industrial & Energy Technology portfolio.
