WhiteWater Boosts 170-Mile Pelican Pipeline Capacity to 2.5 Bcf/d

WhiteWater will expand its Pelican Pipeline to 42 inches, boosting capacity to 2.5 Bcf/d by 2027. The 170-mile line will connect Williams, Louisiana, to the Gillis Hub, supporting Haynesville and Gulf Coast markets.

(P&GJ) — WhiteWater announced plans to increase the diameter of its Pelican Pipeline to 42 inches, raising the line’s capacity to about 2.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) from 1.75 Bcf/d. The expansion is slated to enter service in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals.

The Austin-based infrastructure company is developing the project alongside partners FIC, Stonepeak, and Trace Capital.

The Pelican Pipeline was first sanctioned in November 2024 after WhiteWater reached a final investment decision (FID) on the 170-mile natural gas line. The pipeline will transport gas from Williams, Louisiana, to the Gillis Hub near Ragley, Louisiana, serving demand centers tied to the Haynesville Basin and Gulf Coast markets.

WhiteWater previously secured long-term transportation agreements with shippers to move up to 1.75 Bcf/d of natural gas and expects the line to help relieve regional takeaway constraints.

“The project should help resolve takeaway issues in the Permian in a couple of years and reduce the risk of negative pricing,” Pipeline & Gas Journal Editor-in-Chief Michael Reed said in a November report.
