Mitsubishi Completes Testing of Gas Turbine Control System for Power Plants

Mitsubishi Power and Mitsubishi Electric have completed functional testing of a new gas turbine control system aimed at improving flexibility, fuel adaptability and performance at thermal power plants.

(P&GJ) — Mitsubishi Power and Mitsubishi Electric have completed functional testing of a jointly developed next-generation gas turbine control system designed for thermal power plants.

The system combines Mitsubishi Power’s turbine control technology with Mitsubishi Electric’s high-speed data processing capabilities to improve the operation of large-scale gas turbines used in power generation. According to the companies, the platform is designed to deliver stable and efficient output while handling the increased data volumes associated with higher-capacity turbines.

The control system is also intended to support faster load adjustments, allowing gas-fired units to respond more effectively to fluctuations in renewable power generation. In addition, it is designed to accommodate a range of fuels, including natural gas and hydrogen.

Following the completion of functional testing, the companies said they will move into additional development and verification phases, including validation tests that simulate operation with actual equipment. Commercial deployment is targeted for new projects beginning in fiscal year 2026.
