Strohm Delivers First 13 Composite Pipe Jumpers for Exxon’s Yellowtail Project in Guyana

Strohm has delivered 13 thermoplastic composite pipe jumpers for ExxonMobil’s Yellowtail project offshore Guyana, marking the first regional use of its Jumper on Demand concept.

(P&GJ) — Strohm has completed fabrication of 13 thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) jumpers for ExxonMobil’s Yellowtail development offshore Guyana, marking the first deployment of its “Jumper on Demand” concept in the region.

Strohm’s high-volume fabrication method reduces costs and increases efficiency for Jumper on Demand in any location worldwide.

The technology allows multiple pipe lengths to be spooled from a single reel and cut into discrete jumper sections onsite. Strohm’s Field Service Group then fabricates the individual jumpers in parallel, a method designed to speed up production and reduce costs.

Two of the completed jumpers were integrated with vertical connections, pressure tested, and installed subsea at depths exceeding 1,700 meters earlier this month. Installation was carried out by ExxonMobil’s contractor using a spreader bar, with successful back-seal testing confirming integrity.

“This first Jumper on Demand campaign for ExxonMobil applies a high-volume fabrication method, proving that onsite fabrication of TCP jumpers has the flexibility to scale up or down as the installation schedule demands,” said Gavin Leiper, vice president, Americas and global field services at Strohm.

Leiper added that the campaign finished “on time, under budget and with zero safety incidents or observations,” and was commended by ExxonMobil. A follow-up fabrication campaign is planned for 2026.

Strohm’s TCP technology is corrosion-free and aims to reduce the carbon footprint of pipeline infrastructure for offshore operators.
