EnergySec Honors 2017 Cybersecurity Industry Leaders

On Aug. 16, 2017, at the company’s 13th Annual Security and Compliance Summit, EnergySec recognized Michael Meason as Cybersecurity Professional of the Year and Andy Bochman as Cybersecurity Leader of the Year.

Each year, EnergySec gives special recognition to individuals who have stood out among their peers in displaying the company’s core values of service, innovation, and excellence.

Michael Meason is the Manager of Technical Services at Western Farmers Electric Cooperative. He has eight years of experience in the utility industry and ten years of experience in enterprise IT and cyber security in the financial services sector. Meason is actively employed in the electric utility industry and has provided leadership for IT operations, telecommunications engineering, network engineering/operations, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure protection.

Meason earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Cameron University, and a M.S. Telecommunications Management from Oklahoma State University. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a proud member of Infragard Oklahoma, and holds information assurance certificates from the Committee for Network Security Systems (CNSS), and the National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Instruction (NSTISSI).

Bochman provides strategic guidance to senior members of the U.S. government and energy industry leaders on topics at the intersection of grid modernization and security. Previously, he was the Global Energy & Utilities Security Lead at IBM and Senior Adviser at the Chertoff Group in Washington, DC. A frequent speaker, writer and standards developer, he has provided analysis on energy sector security actions, standards and gaps to DOE, DOD, FERC, NERC, NIST, NARUC, the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council (ESCC), and state utility commissions, most recently testifying before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on energy infrastructure cybersecurity issues.
