What’s New: Pipeline Monitoring, Pumps, and Leak Detection Technologies
Trafag AG
Trafag AG introduced its 879x Hybrid Gas Density Monitor RS485/Modbus, combining self-acting monitoring and continuous density measurement of insulating gases in one device.
By directly measuring gas density, this innovative monitor is the most reliable solution on the market. Accurate readings are guaranteed regardless of temperature fluctuations between an ambient temperature range of –40°F to 176°F (–40°C to 80°C).
This device provides continuous density measurement, offering real-time monitoring insights into gas density levels, enabling proactive maintenance and preventing potential issues. The RS485/Modbus (RTU) output enables easy digital communication integration with control systems and data logging for comprehensive monitoring and analysis.
A floating change-over contact (SPDT) output provides reliable switching output for alarm systems or control functions based on pre-set density thresholds, and multiple switch points (1 microswitches–3 microswitches) enables users to set multiple alarm thresholds for different density levels. www.trafag.com
Netzsch Pumps USA
NETZSCH Pumps USA’s advanced fluid handling solutions for the oil industry that are ideal for upstream, midstream and downstream applications. The NEMO® Progressing Cavity Pumps, Downhole PC Pumps, NOTOS® Multiple Screw Pumps, TORNADO® Rotary Lobe Pumps and PERIPRO® Peristaltic Pumps from NETZSCH, handle high or low viscosity fluids, solid handling capability and reduce lifecycle costs. In fact, all can be offered in accordance with API 676 3rd or 4th ed. upon request.
The TORNADO Rotary Lobe Pumps solves a wide range of challenging downstream applications and solids control, with high power density, small space requirements, and the ability to convey almost any substance continuously and gently while metering in proportion to rotation speed. The TORNADO is engineered to handle media that are sheer-sensitive, low- or high-viscosity, abrasive and acidic/caustic.
The PERIPRO Peristaltic Pump line expands the NETZSCH pump portfolio with its characteristics as a particularly robust and powerful pump that can easily handle viscous and abrasive media and can run dry indefinitely. Their excellent suction capabilities also allow them to be used for sump tank applications.
These pumps have a unique design, are easy to use, and enable 30% energy savings as compared to other hose pumps due to their inventive design. www.pumps-systems.netzsch.com/en-US
NDT Global
NDT Global released its OPTIX Data Visualization and Insights Platform, providing pipeline operators with an intuitive, cloud-based dashboard to visualize all inline inspection (ILI) data in one accessible location.
Digitization of the final inspection report, combined with the ease of filtering and arranging relevant data, allows operators to better understand their ILI inspection results and make more informed decisions to ensure the integrity of their pipelines.
The platform provides a comprehensive view of pipeline conditions not previously available, bringing together results from many inspection runs. Continued advancement in ILI technologies has led to significantly more data to extract and interpret. www.ndt-global.com
Sensirion
Sensirion released its next-generation miniature carbon dioxide (CO2) sensor series: the SCD4x. The device is built on the photo-acoustic sensing principle and the patented PASens and CMOSens Technology, enabling the small sensor size to combine with high performance.
The integrated humidity and temperature sensor enable on-chip signal compensation and additional RH and T outputs. Also, the large supply voltage range (2.4 V–5.5 V) and adjustable power consumption make the SCD4x more economical.
The kit contains a four-pin jumper wire cable that enables fast prototyping through integration into existing platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. www.sensirion.com/scd4x
Oxford Flow
Oxford Flow launched two pilots, designed for use in high- and low-pressure environments in response to demand among gas distribution networks (GDNs).
Designed for use with the company’s hydrogen-ready IM series gas regulators, the pilots will expand the market and offer the GDN operator a solution that can be used throughout its system, with differing pilots in each pressure area.
The PRX2H high-pressure pilot is now ready to be deployed with the PRX2L low-pressure pilot. The new range of pilots includes: PRX2L low-pressure reducing pilot (13 bar–1.2 bar), PRX2 pressure reducing pilot (0.5 bar–25 bar), PRX2H high-pressure reducing pilot (17 bar–70 bar) and PSX1 pressure sustaining/creep relief pilot (0.5 bar–22 bar). www.oxford-flow.com
LeakVISION
LeakVISION released an in-pipe leak detection sensor, mounted to a robot base or push-rod camera system.
The system is used to inspect in-pipe features for leakage from joints, connections and other areas. The system was developed to decrease excavations, which require street work and disruptions.
The system’s technology makes use of thermography to analyze and highlight leakage by directly scanning the pipeline and pinpointing the area. This allows teams to make targeted repairs with pin-point accuracy.
The inspection collects large amounts of data, and the related risk model can use site and network data to help manage pipeline risks. The LeakVISION system also comes equipped with a display monitor for live pipe viewing. www.synthotech.com
