Corrosion Testing in Real Time

Process stream chemistries vary over time, affecting materials’ resistance to corrosion. Common operational factors such as changes in oxygen concentration, start ups and shut downs, and feed stock variability can cause variations.

DNV GL’s mobile lab assesses material performance on-site and in real time, and in flowing or quiescent process fluids. Pressure and temperature limits can be specified.

The mobile lab arrives at the site with many of the same tools found in the company’s testing and research facility in Columbus, Ohio. Testing can, therefore, be conducted in real time, under normal operating conditions.

Immediate benefits from the lab come in the form of:

  • Mobilization to operating sites only as needed and then removed when sufficient results are obtained
  • Operator retains significant control and flexibility of testing parameters
  • Results can be analyzed quickly and on site
  • Scope changes can be made immediately
  • Technical backup is available as needed from SME’s and NACE-certified technicians. P&GJ
