FERC Issues Draft EIA for Golden Pass LNG

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has prepared a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Golden Pass LNG Export Project.

Proposed by Golden Pass Products, LLC and Golden Pass Pipeline, LLC, the project includes construction, modification and operation of facilities in Texas and Louisiana with liquefaction facilities at the existing Golden Pass Export Terminal. It would include three liquefaction trains; a truck-unloading facility; a supply dock and alternate marine delivery facilities.

Also planned is a 2.6-mile, 24-inch pipeline loop adjacent to the existing Golden Pass pipeline, three new compressor stations, five new pipeline interconnections and modifications at existing pipeline interconnections.

FERC’s environmental staff concluded that construction and operation of the project would result in significant environmental impacts. However, most would be reduced to acceptable levels with proposed mitigation and additional measures recommended by staff. The deadline for comments on the draft EIS is May 16.
