N.D. Oil, Gas Industry Implements Environmental Practices

The Grand Forks Herald reports the Sporting and Oil Industry Forum has developed guidelines for North Dakota oil and gas producers to help decrease environmental impacts.

The forum has used geographic information systems maps to scope out certain habitat areas for specific species so that drilling facilities can be zoned away from these risky areas. The forum has posed creating similar routes for multiple sets of pipelines.

The guidelines are voluntary though the newspaper reports that the director of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department said that most companies are onboard and are expected to execute the practices.
