Strohm Wins Contract for Subsea Production Jumpers Offshore Malaysia
Strohm has secured a contract to supply subsea production jumpers for a deepwater offshore Malaysia project, located 75 miles offshore at 4,429 feet of water depth.
(P&GJ) — Strohm has been awarded a contract to supply insulated thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) production jumpers for an offshore field extension project in Malaysia.
The scope includes two large-bore, 7-inch internal diameter jumpers that will support oil production at a site located approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles) offshore Sabah in East Malaysia, at a water depth of 1,350 meters (4,429 feet). Installation is expected in 2027.
Strohm will also provide associated equipment to Dynamic Ocean Sdn Bhd, which is responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) under a contract with the project’s end user.
“This award marks another important step forward for our business in Southeast Asia, strengthening our position as a long-term partner in the region and demonstrating our customers’ confidence in our technology.
“As industrial growth across Asia continues and operators invest heavily in modern infrastructure and efficiency, we are pleased to continue supporting the end user with another contract award, reflecting the confidence customers place in our engineering expertise, commitment to quality, and our ability to deliver reliably at scale.”
The project highlights continued demand for corrosion-resistant subsea pipeline technologies in deepwater developments, where operators are seeking to improve reliability and reduce installation costs.
Thermoplastic composite pipe is a non-metallic solution designed to resist corrosion and fatigue, making it suitable for subsea applications such as jumpers, flowlines and risers.
According to Rystad Energy, offshore gas project investment in Southeast Asia is expected to reach approximately $100 billion by 2028, driven by new deepwater developments in Malaysia and Indonesia.
