JERA Secures LNG Capacity at Dunkerque Terminal in France

JERA has secured 2 Bcm per year of LNG regasification capacity at the Dunkerque terminal in France, which is now fully contracted through 2036.

(P&GJ) — JERA has signed a six-year agreement with Dunkerque LNG to secure regasification capacity of 2 billion cubic meters (Bcm) per year at the Dunkirk terminal in France, starting in 2031.

The deal adds to long-term LNG infrastructure commitments in Europe and will contribute to supply flexibility for global markets.

Following the agreement, the Dunkerque LNG terminal’s full regasification capacity of 13 Bcm per year is now contracted through 2036, with additional capacity expected to become available starting in 2037.

“Strengthening flexibility across our LNG supply chain is essential to ensuring stable energy supply in an increasingly uncertain environment. This partnership with Dunkerque LNG enhances our ability to respond to changing market conditions while supporting Japan’s energy security.”

“We are delighted to begin the collaboration with JERA through this agreement. JERA’s arrival alongside us marks a major milestone for Dunkerque LNG and confirms the attractiveness of our terminal at the heart of the European LNG market.

This partnership is part of a long-term vision, built on shared values of reliability, industrial performance, and contribution to Europe’s energy security of supply.”

The Dunkerque terminal plays a key role in Europe’s LNG import network, and the agreement underscores continued demand for regasification capacity amid shifting global gas trade flows.
