2 Oil Company Workers Injured in Mexico Gas Pipeline Fire
11/4/2019
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Two employees of Mexico’s state-owned oil company are hospitalized after a leak and fire at a gas pipeline.
The national civil defense office said the pipeline fire broke out Sunday in the central state of Tlaxcala, just east of Mexico City.
The office did not say whether the leak was caused by an illegal tap drilled into the duct. However, that is the cause of many such fires in Mexico.
Thieves have increasingly taken to stealing natural gas after the government cracked down of gasoline and diesel thefts.
The fire continued into the night as remaining gas in the pipeline burned off.
