Tribal Head who Led Dakota Access Pipeline Fight Voted Out

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Native American official who has been the face and voice of the fight against the Dakota Access oil pipeline has been voted out of office. Unofficial results from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe’s general election Wednesday showed that Dave Archambault received only 37 percent of about 1,700 votes cast. His opponent, longtime tribal councilman and wildlife official Mike Faith, received 63 percent, according to the totals released Thursday. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Advances FERC Nominees

The Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources today advanced two of President Trump’s nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission: Richard Glick, a Democratic attorney and Kevin McIntyre, FERC’s chairman-in-waiting. Glick and McIntyre will now receive a vote before the full Senate. “We continue to move expeditiously on these nominees so that FERC no longer has a mere quorum, but instead a full complement of five commissioners,” Murkowski, chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, said. NextDecade Corporation has appointed Matt Schatzman to the company’s newly created position of President. FERC Names New General Counsel

FERC has named James P. Danly General Counsel, effective Sept. 18, 2017.  He will replace David Morenoff, who has served as FERC’s General Counsel since February 2017 and will assume the position of Deputy General Counsel once the transition is complete. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has named Anthony Pugliese Chief of Staff. Since January 2017, Pugliese has served as Senior White House Advisor at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where he helped oversee all aspects of the department, including pipeline safety and regulatory issues.
