Flowserve to Provide Dry Gas Seals for ADNOC’s Carbon Capture Project
(P&GJ) — Flowserve Corp. has secured a contract to supply Dry Gas Seals and Systems for a pioneering carbon capture project with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the state-owned oil and gas entity in the UAE.
This project, one of the largest in the Middle East and North Africa, aims to capture and store 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) annually, equivalent to the emissions from more than 326,000 vehicles.
As part of ADNOC’s decarbonization strategy, the initiative will involve the installation of two high-pressure injection packages at ADNOC’s Habshan gas plant. Flowserve’s sealing solutions will be integrated with high-pressure injection systems supplied by Celeros Flow Technology, marking the first-ever continuous supercritical CO₂ (sCO₂) pump injection services for enhanced oil recovery.
“Undertaking a project like this requires ingenuity and close collaboration to navigate complex technical challenges,” said Lamar Duhon, President of Flowserve Pumps Division. “We are thrilled to be part of ADNOC’s decarbonization journey, which aligns with our strategy to diversify, decarbonize, and digitize.”
Once operational, the injection packages will transport captured CO₂ from the Habshan facility to the Bab Far North Field Development CO₂ Storage Hub via a dedicated pipeline. By 2030, ADNOC plans to expand its carbon capture capacity to five million tons annually.
This project highlights Flowserve’s growing leadership in the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) market, as demand for innovative CCS solutions continues to rise.
