Cedar LNG Selects Contractor, Prepares for Pipeline Construction
(P&GJ) — Cedar LNG has selected Ledcor Haisla Limited Partnership (LHLP) to construct the pipeline component of its liquefied natural gas project near Kitimat, British Columbia.
LHLP, a joint venture between the Haisla Nation and Ledcor formed more than a decade ago, has delivered multiple projects in the region while supporting employment and training opportunities for Haisla members and the local community.
Pipeline construction planning is underway, including hiring, safety orientation, and site preparation. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025.
LHLP will handle direct hiring for labor needs, with hiring preference given to Haisla and other Indigenous members, subject to availability and qualifications. The company is working with the Haisla Education & Employment team to identify candidates for upcoming roles.
Since making a positive final investment decision (FID) in June 2024, Cedar LNG has completed clearing of the marine terminal site and pipeline route, and has advanced design optimization efforts with a focus on minimizing environmental impacts.
Construction of the marine terminal is also slated to begin in Q2 2025, with peak activity expected in 2026. The floating LNG production facility is under development overseas, with the project targeting in-service by late 2028.
