China Resumes Construction on Mid Section of East-Route Pipeline
(Reuters) – The middle section of the China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline project resumed construction in Jinzhou City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, on Wednesday.
At the construction site, more than 70 construction workers started their work with 16 sets of mechanical equipment after being registered and having their body temperature taken.
"A project in Faku County and Kangping County will also resume work tomorrow, including more than 130 workers and about 80 sets of facilities," said Cai Deyu, deputy manager of the China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline project.
As one of China's four major energy channels, the China-Russia east-route natural gas pipeline is 3,176 miles (5,111 km) in length. The project is divided into three sections: the north, the middle, and the south section, and the north section was officially put into operation at the end of last year. The middle section designed from Changling County, northeast China's Jilin Province, to Yongqing County, north China's Hebei Province, is 690 miles (1,110 km) in length.
"The construction of the project involves as many as more than 6,000 people from across China. We should overcome adverse factors and difficulties, such as cargo transportation and personnel return, so as to try our best to complete the project with high quality in accordance with the construction schedule, and ensure that it will be put into use by the end of the year," said Cai.
