New Cogent Pipeline to Connect Processing Complex to GCX
(P&GJ) - Cogent Midstream said it plans to build a new 400 MMcf/d pipeline to deliver residue gas from its Big Lake Natural Gas Processing complex in the Midland Basin to the Gulf Coast Express Pipeline (GCX).
The new 25-mile, 20" pipeline is scheduled to begin service in the fourth quarter of 2019, when Cogent also plans to expand its natural gas processing capacity with the commissioning of a second cryogenic plant at the Big Lake complex in Regan County, Texas.
Cogent contracted with Honeywell in late 2018 to design and supply the 200 MMcf/d UOP Russell modular cryogenic plant with refrigeration and dehydration units. The plant will bring Cogent’s total processing capacity to approximately 510 MMcf/d, the company said.
“Cogent’s investments in the Big Lake II Plant and the residue gas pipeline to GCX continue to demonstrate the high level of commitment we’ve made to serving our customers," said Cogent Midstream CEO Dennis J. McCanless.
"Both projects are designed to ensure that Cogent’s producers have the reliable service and optionality they need to efficiently move their volumes to growing markets and achieve the best possible netbacks,” McCanless said.
In addition to Kinder Morgan's GCX Pipeline, Cogent's new residue gas pipeline also is expected to cross the Kinder Morgan-EagleClaw Permian Highway Pipeline and Targa Resources' Whistler Pipeline.
