Allseas Wins Balticconnector Pipeline Installation Contract

Baltic Connector Oy and Elering AS have awarded a pipeline installation contract to Allseas Group for the offshore section of the Balticconnector Pipeline Project.

Under the terms of the agreement, seabed preparations are expected to begin this summer, with the pipeline installation to commence in summer 2019. The entire scope of work is expected to be completed in Fall 2019.

“The goal of the project is to enable the opening of the Finnish gas market in 2020,” said Herkko Plit, President and CEO of Baltic Connector Oy. “Constructing the Balticconnector offshore pipeline is one of the key parts in linking the Finnish and Baltic gas markets and integrating them with the EU’s common energy market. With this agreement, we are taking several steps towards completing the project within schedule,”

The Balticconnector Pipeline Project includes the construction of a 153-kilometer pipeline that will connect the gas networks of Estonia and Finland. The project will transport 7.2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day and is expected to be placed in service in 2019.
