Union Gas Launches Open Season for Dawn Parkway Transmission System

Union Gas has launched an open season for firm capacity of up to 700,000 GJ/d beginning in 2019 or 2020 for the Union Gas Dawn Parkway Transmission System along the Dawn to Parkway, Dawn to Kirkwall and Kirkwall to Parkway transportation paths.

The open season offers firm access to the liquidity and diversity of the Dawn Hub and access to Appalachian supply at the Dawn, Niagara and Chippawa supply points. Customers in eastern Canada and the northeast U.S. can access these supply points by aligning Union Gas transportation services with downstream pipeline capacity on TransCanada and interconnecting systems in the U.S.

The Dawn Hub is the largest integrated natural gas storage facility in Canada and one of the largest in North America. The Dawn Hub is fully integrated into the North American natural gas supply and transportation system providing shippers with the ability to access competitive, diverse and flexible supply options.

The Union Gas Dawn Parkway Transmission System is one of the most robust pipeline systems in North America and provides for the movement of natural gas from the Dawn Hub located near Sarnia, Ontario – to the Greater Toronto Area, where it interconnects with other downstream pipelines serving eastern Canadian and northeast U.S. markets. All compressor stations at Dawn and along the Dawn-Parkway corridor have Loss of Critical Unit reserve horsepower coverage which provides firm service reliability.

The open season runs from December 15, 2016 through February 2, 2017.
